Extended Painting & Sculpture

There is something exciting and unsettling about moving into new studio spaces. In particular as my practice responds to the surroundings - the architecture, fixtures and other works. This year all extended painters are to share studio space with sculptors. Considering that I would not be the one to support medium division, it is interesting how different this new space feels.

Number of observations
  • Studio is huge, loud and rather dirty... At the same time the architectural details are amazing...
  • Different approaches to making work and occupying space led to a number of discussions and initial procrastination... Then it all seemed to fall into place...
  • Sculptors seems to be suddenly making more wall based work whilst painters are creating more objects. Coincidence?
